St John to the rescue!
St John to the rescue!
Story
On 25 July I was involved in a hit and run car accident. Thankfully my injuries, while painful and traumatic, aren't permanent. It could have been far, far worse.
I was extremely lucky to have been helped by five men in uniform that night, one of whom is an ambulance officer. That's why, for this year's Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, I've chosen to raise much needed funds for St John Ambulance.
On 18 September, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course over the Harbour Bridge, around Sydney's CBD and finishing at the Opera House steps...
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.

Activity
St John Ambulance Australia (NSW)
St John Ambulance NSW is a proud volunteer based organisation and we’re committed to saving lives. We are self-funded and as such we receive limited government funding. In their unmistakable green uniform, our Event Health Service volunteers are the most recognised face of St John NSW. In 2017, we attended 5,326 events and emergencies and provided first aid and medical care to 12,118 people. By responding to people in need before emergency services arrive, we are able to reduce demand on the broader health system – many patients are able to return home following our care.
We are committed to promoting the importance of first aid in our community and believe there is no better place to start than in our schools. Empowering young people with life-saving knowledge improves local communities and families by making them more resilient, stronger and safer. The First Aid in Schools program is a free initiative offered to primary school students. Children in Years 3-6 are equipped with life-long first aid skills they can use in the event of an accident or emergency.
